Summer is the perfect time to enjoy refreshing fruit that is not only delicious but also very healthy. As part of our summer series of Serbian language lessons, we will explore the names and benefits of some of the most popular summer fruits in Serbian. This is a great way to expand your vocabulary while learning about healthy eating!

 

1. Lubenica – Watermelon 🍉

Watermelon is a favorite summer treat in Serbia that refreshes and hydrates the body due to its high water content. It is also rich in vitamin C, which strengthens the immune system.

Example sentence: “Volim da jedem lubenicu tokom leta.” (I love eating watermelon during the summer.)

2. Jagoda – Strawberry 🍓

Recipe: Refreshing Fruit Salad from Serbian local fruit

One of the best ways to enjoy all these fruits is to combine them into a refreshing fruit salad. Here is a simple recipe:

  • 1 cup strawberries, halved
  • 2 peaches, sliced
  • 1 cup grapes, halved
  • 1 cup apricots, chopped

Preparation:
